The Magic of Coconut and Grape Seed Oil

** This is a guest post by coconut/ grape seed oil extraordinaire, Toni Lee **

Today I am rejoicing--rejoicing because the plague on my skin has finally ended! The physically and emotionally scarring condition called acne is no longer affecting my life.
And I owe it all to oil.

Flashback to a few years ago. My skin was the worst it’s ever been. I couldn’t cover it with makeup, I felt hideous, and it was so sore sometimes I could only sleep on one side of my face.

I tried so many things, and nothing worked for very long. I finally decided these expensive treatments that dried out my skin were not all they were chalked up to be, so i went for the natural remedies. I figured it couldn’t get any worse, so why not?

First thing I tried was a honey and cinnamon mask. While this didn’t completely clear up my skin, it definitely helped, bringing out some of the inflammation and softening my skin.
I thought, okay, this isn’t the ultimate answer, but it’s a step in the right direction!

Then I started reading about coconut oil. People were saying how amazing it was. All I could think was, how can you put oil on your face!! Sounded like a terrible idea to me. But, I was desperate. So I bought myself some extra virgin coconut oil, and began applying it before bed after my honey mask.

I soon discovered putting oil on my face actually helped! After all those years of having flaky makeup in the morning because of dryness, and it running off every afternoon because of oily-ness, my skin was actually balancing out. It stopped being too dry or too oily. My acne got better. Not completely better, but once again, another step in the right direction and progress was made. I was ecstatic!

Now even though the coconut oil was helping me, I did notice my face was always flushed after applying it. I read that it meant it was getting the blood flowing, which was good, but I still decided to research some other oils. Eventually I made the switch to grape-seed oil.  I don’t think I’d ever heard of grape-seed oil before this, but due to its lightness and cooling effect, as opposed to the heating effect of coconut oil, my inflamed skin was more akin to this oil.

So if you are searching for skin solutions, and have not tried the oil remedy, I would say you need to! Both oils are ones I would recommend, they both have healing properties and are full of vitamin E. However, not everyone’s face will tolerate coconut oil. If yours does, great! If you are unsure, I would definitely recommend grape-seed oil.

Let the magic of oils heal your skin, and rejoice in its new life!
